Carol Cook Carter has practiced law in Alabama since her admission to the Bar in April 2001 after graduating from the Cumberland School of Law. In the past twenty-four years she has practiced in a number of areas, but now focuses primarily on the areas of family law and probate matters. Her absolute passion is representing children as Guardian ad Litem in the Juvenile and Circuit Courts. Carol has served as Child Support Referee in Chilton County for the past two years.
Carol and her husband, Steve, have resided in Elmore County since 2014. They are parents of Aaron, an Emergency Management Specialist with Elmore County EMA, who owns Aaron Moore Construction, and father to their two grandchildren, Chloe and Collier; Mollie, a speech therapist and co-owner of The Bailey Center; and Kaci, a first-grader at Holtville Elementary School. Their daughter-in-love, Julia, is a trauma nurse at Baptist South. They are members of Shoal Creek Baptist Church and lead a construction mission group, Tools of Ministry, each year.

Senate Bill 39 (Act 2023-315) was signed by Governor Kay Ivey on May 23, 2025 to create four additional circuit judgeship (one each in the 11th, 19th, 23rd, and 28th Judicial Circuits) .
